Neurological Evaluation

A neurological evaluation consists of a physical exam and a number of simple and painless tests. The purpose of these tests is to assess your neurological function, including your muscle strength, how your autonomic nerves are functioning, and your ability to feel different sensations. The spinal bones provide bony amour for protection of the spinal cord. When a bone or disc is displaced, it creates pressure on the spinal cord and/or nerves, resulting in pain and causing various symptoms throughout the body, including numbness, tingling sensations, muscle weakness, or loss of proper function.

Nerve tissue can die off without proper oxygenation and nutrition, which can result in permanent, irreparable damage. The precise location and prompt diagnosis of the nerve lesion is essential for proper treatment. Depending on the diagnosis, proper treatments may consist of chiropractic manipulation, physiotherapy, physical strengthening procedures, acupuncture, or cold level laser. Even modern nutritional therapies are being hailed for their positive role in tissue repair.
